Reading the CG Quadrant Map
Two distances on a printout become one dot on a grid. Here's what that dot is actually telling you.
Most golfers glance at a fixture printout, see two small distances, and figure they've missed something obvious. They haven't. On their own, a height reading and a depth reading are just fractions of an inch, measured off fixed points on the head. Nothing about them is intuitive until they get plotted against each other.
Turning Two Numbers Into a Position
The quadrant map runs a low-to-high axis on one side and a forward-to-back axis on the other. Every head we test lands as a single dot somewhere on that grid. A dot sitting toward the bottom-right corner describes a head built to launch easily and forgive a mishit. A dot near the top-left describes a head built for a flatter, more controllable flight. Most production heads land somewhere between those corners, and that middle ground is exactly where the map earns its keep — it shows how close a given head actually sits to the zone your swing calls for, rather than which broad marketing bucket it got filed under.
Why a Plot Beats a Single Spin Number
Some shops lean on one spin reading from the launch monitor to describe fit. That number can mislead on its own. Two heads can post nearly identical spin on a single well-struck swing while sitting in completely different quadrants — and the gap between them shows up the instant attack angle or swing speed shifts even slightly. A plotted position holds steady in a way a single good swing never will.
One spin number describes a moment. A quadrant position describes a tendency.
Putting a Position Next to Real Numbers
Once a current head is plotted, we set it against that golfer's own launch data from the same session. A high-forward dot paired with an already flat, low-spin flight usually means the head isn't the problem — something in the delivery needs a closer look instead. That same dot paired with a high, ballooning flight typically confirms the head is doing exactly what its position predicts, and a lower, deeper quadrant solves it.

A quadrant position only means something once it's checked against a real swing. Alone, it's just a dot on a grid. Next to a launch monitor session, it turns into a fairly reliable map of where a head change will actually move the needle.
